Tumblr Tuesday: Striking Studs

As I unpacked all of my clothing from college, I realized that I had a massive amount of shorts that I do not wear. However, I could not bring myself to get rid of them because they fit so well! With that being said, I decided that I wanted to tap into my crafting side and re-purpose all of my shorts.  There was only one problem; I had no idea what to do to them! I didn't want to do the basics (cut them up, bleach them, or change the buttons), so I decided to do some research. While browsing through several D.I.Y. sites, I noticed that they all had a common idea- STUDDED SHORTS. Before I tackle the project tonight, I wanted to share with you all of the ways to incorporate this trend into your everyday look. RTW: "Reclaim-to-Wear"

Last Sunday, I decided to take a break from studying to check out a fashion show sponsored by the Art & Design department here on campus. To my surprise this was not an ordinary runway event. Students enrolled in the fashion design class constructed garments made completely out of unusual materials including newspaper, mop heads, and popsicle sticks. In addition to the already challenging criteria, the students were given under 24 hours to create a majority of the masterpieces. This "Trashion Show" was one of the most unique and interesting shows. If you ever hear of one in your area, I highly encourage you to try and attend. Check out these photos of a few of my favorite looks from the event.
